Panda, by Rau
In the hills of the Dutch city Zeist the WWF has build its new headquarters. The building uses the concrete frame of an older building that existed on the site. The architecture is by the Dutch architect Thomas Rau from Rau and Partners from Amsterdam.
The architect states that the approach of the WWF to nature is reflected in the architecture. The building is designed with sustainable materials and is very energy-efficient. The image of the building alignes itself with the ’soft’ image of the WWF itself.
The blob in the middle of the building houses the entrance and meeting-rooms. The blob reminds us at the logo of the WWF: the Panda. Since the project-name is ‘WNF Panda Office’ I don’t believe that is a coincidence.
