C for yourself

Last night I had a dream that I had an interview for this blog with Caroline Bos, one of the partners of UN Studio. She asked politely and with a smile what I wanted to know about their work. But then my breath was taken away, and I stumbled only fragments of supposedly brilliant sentences to her…

Earlier on last night, when bored with all the lousy Dutch television and wishing for more (music)channels, I decided to watch the commercials. The advertisement for the new Mercedes-Benz C-class came by, a beautiful short film featuring Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso. Interestingly the metaphors for the car that Alonso tells the viewer in the voice-over are envisioned on the screen by transforming the car into the metaphor. The car is fast as an explosion, smooth as flowing water, and agile like fish.

Yes, iconography deals only with virtues, and is related to advertisement. Maybe, I should apply for a job in that business. When visiting the game-like C-for-yourself webspecial about the Mercedes I came across the photograph above where this new car is posing in the architecture of UN Studio, in an office building in the Dutch city of Almere in this case.

UN Studio is off course not unfamiliar to Mercedes-Benz as they last year finished their masterwork, the Mercedes-Benz Museum, in Stuttgart, one of the most innovative buildings of the decade.

When talking about UN Studio let me point to their just finished villa in New York; the VilLA NM, and Agora Theatre for the city of Lelystad.
